The Most Fabulous Footballers’ Weddings this Season

When you think of the beautiful game, the last thing you think of is a beautiful wedding. In fact, you’d be right in thinking about awful dresses, even worse decorations and Ashley Cole – unfortunately. In this day and age, however, footballers’ weddings are much classier.

Today’s footballers’ weddings are much more sophisticated, intimate and upmarket. From opulent venues to immaculately dressed guests, take a look at these absolutely stunning footballers’ weddings.

Sergio Ramos & Pilar Rubio

A post shared by Sergio Ramos (@sergioramos) on

The Real Madrid captain and television presenter, Pilar Rubio, spared no expense as they tied the knot in Ramos’ hometown this month. Andalusia was brought to a complete standstill as hundreds of people lined the streets, desperate to steal a glimpse of the famous couple.

The guest list included notable names such as David and Victoria Beckham – whose wedding back in 1999 inspired an entire generation – Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, and Barcelona’s Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, respectively.

Ramos wore an immaculate summer suit, ideal for the Andalusian temperatures, while his bride wore a beautiful diamond embellished veil. Described as the ‘wedding of the year’ in Spain, this footballers’ wedding was simply spellbinding.

Mesut Ozil & Amine Gulse

A post shared by Mesut Özil (@m10_official) on

A wedding fit for a president. That’s right, Mesut Ozil was married in Istanbul earlier this month with Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan as his best man.

As the president watched on in sheer wonderment, the Arsenal star married model, actress and former Miss Turkey, Amine Gulse on the banks of the Bospherous. Hundreds of white lilies dangled gorgeously above the couple’s heads as they delivered their vows to the sound of the waves lapping against the shore.

Despite causing a furore, this footballers’ wedding was quaint and wholesome.

Gylfi Sigurdsson & Alexandra Ivarsdottir

Would it even be a footballers’ wedding without a private jet? Everton and Iceland midfielder, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Ex-Miss World contestant, Alexandra Ivarsdottir, spared no expense as they married on Lake Como this June. Along with her Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, the couple tied the knot at Balbiano, which is described as one of the most important historical properties on the shores of the Lake.

Choosing an ivory theme, white roses were a focal feature of the ceremony as guests were given matching fans to keep themselves cool in the Mediterranean sun.

Alexandra looked stunning in an ivory lace dress complete with a long train, while Sigurdsson looked equally as smart. And not forgetting the couple’s dog, Koby, who we’re sure looked as dapper as his dad.

Daley Blind & Candy-Rae Fleur

A post shared by Daley Blind (@blinddaley) on

Posting on social media, the former Manchester United defender wrote: “Finally I can say that you are mine! Look at her; my beautiful wife, Mrs. Blind.” The Ajax star also went onto reveal that he was going to become a father; now how’s that for stealing your bride’s limelight.

This footballers’ wedding looked absolutely stunning – as did Candy Rae-Fleur who wore an exquisite lace dress and matching vail. Not to disappoint, her new husband wore a fetching black waistcoat, which complemented his perfectly tailored grey suit.

This footballers’ wedding was so romantic that it apparently brought Daley to tears – and looking at his beautiful wife and hearing his amazing news, we don’t blame him.

Harry Kane & Katie Goodland

A post shared by Harry Kane (@harrykane) on

“I Finally got to marry my best friend,” wrote Harry Kane as he married his childhood sweetheart, Katie Goodland.

The England captain, who has known Goodland since childhood, married his beloved fiancée in an exotic, albeit unknown, destination. This is one celebrity marriage that will almost certainly stand the test of time.

A real life fairy-tale, this footballers’ wedding was one to remember.

Unique Wedding Ideas that Promise to Inspire You

The main point of any wedding is for you and your partner to get married, correct? Beyond that, however, this is your chance to throw an epic party for you and your guests to enjoy.

So, forget about boring best man speeches, bland food and lacklustre receptions, and instead, take a look at these ridiculously fun and unique wedding ideas which promise to inspire you to think outside the box.

Serve Carnival Food at Your Wedding

A post shared by Wordy Food | 🍔🌭🍕 (@wordyfood) on

We know that carnival food is distinctly American, but who can resist caramel drenched apples, a snow cone – which is the quintessential carnival food, and succulent hamburgers and hotdogs. One way to bring about nostalgia and glee is by serving carnival food at your reception.

Supposing you and your partner met at a carnival, or maybe your favourite memories consist of big wheels and huge teddy bear prizes, nevertheless, these unique wedding ideas and menu options could set your wedding apart from everyone else’s.

Carnival foods may not be wholesome, but they sure are tasty – and everyone loves a treat now and again.

Create Your Very Own Wedding Hashtag

There is no shortage of unique wedding ideas to explore when planning your big day. From classic cars to elaborate photo booths, the modern-day wedding is more fun than ever before.

And now, guests can join in and share your big day on social media by using your very own wedding hashtag, created by you.

Your hashtag could be a play on your names, a creative turn of phrase or even something personal to you and your partner – but whatever you choose, a wedding hashtag is the perfect way to document your day.

Just make sure somebody else hasn’t already taken your hashtag.

A Wedding Bouncy Castle

Couples are jumping on this trend at the moment.

You may associate bouncy castles with children’s parties, but these days, grown-up brides and grooms are jumping at the chance to have a bouncy castle at their weddings. The white wedding inflatable is the latest must have party accessory.

From blow-up marquees to adventure castles, these unique wedding ideas bring a new level of fun to your day.

And remember, you’re never too old to have a bouncy castle at your wedding.

A Live Event Painter

Bored of seeing the same old wedding photographs? You know the ones; you and your partner holding hands, standing next to each other or your groomsmen awkwardly cradling your new spouse.

One way to spice up your wedding photographs is by hiring a live event painter. The painter paints a picture of your wedding as it happens, at the venue. Guests can watch the person work, and you can take the painting away at the end.

From a beautiful wedding painting that perfectly captures your big day to a high-impact piece, a live painting is one of our more unique wedding ideas, but one that is sure to get people talking.

Creative Confetti

Weddings are, at their heart, a lot of fun. However, confetti is often overlooked when coming up with cool and unique wedding ideas.

Largely passed over as old-fashioned, confetti has had a renaissance in the last couple of years – and aside from the paper variety, a huge number of alternatives have appeared.

From snipping up pages of your favourite book or poem to blowing bubbles as you walk out the venue, confetti has never been cooler.

Eco friendly, free and a great idea for an Autumn wedding, dried golden leaves make great confetti. Once more, couples have even opted to throw cute paper airplanes or even lavender.

5 Things on Every Groom’s Checklist

Accustomed as you are to planning and preparing, chances are that you’ve overlooked something when organising your wedding.

Today’s grooms are becoming more involved in planning their own weddings – from choosing the wedding cake to selecting a best man. Nevertheless, there is always something to do as the big day approaches.

So, whether you’re a hands-on type of guy or just looking to stay out of the way, here are a few pointers to keep in mind as you draw up your groom’s checklist.

Dress to Impress

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Jim Chapman (@jimchapman) on

For men, dressing for a wedding has never been so important. Thanks to the copious amounts of Royal weddings and celeb nuptials recently, men now have a duty to stand out and look their best.

Once your soon-to-be bride has picked out the colour scheme, you should go and choose what you’re wearing. Whether it’s a regal morning suit or an elegant tuxedo, it’s important for you and your groomsmen to look sharp and sophisticated.

So, save the novelty bow tie for your bachelor party and ask your mates to do the same, pick out something smart and relax safe in the knowledge that you’ve crossed another thing off your groom’s checklist.

The Importance of Grooming

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by David Gandy (@davidgandy_official) on

Grooming, be it the fragrance you choose or the haircut you sport, is important – fact. There’s no point in wearing a perfectly tailored tux for you to then look rough.

Of the pre-wedding appointments that you should make, a manicure is one of the most important because your hands are going to be photographed over and over again – and, it goes without saying that you should shave and get a haircut.

Also, this is no day to raise a stink so, post-deodorant, spray on something extra – something that complements what you’re wearing.

An immaculately groomed groom is what you should aim to be.

Transport

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Meghan Markle Gallery (@meghanmarklegallery) on

If you want a lesson in elegant wedding cars, Prince Harry’s recent nuptials provided just that. Leaving for his intimate wedding reception in a vintage Jaguar E-Type, Prince Harry showed every groom how it’s done.

The lesson learned? When it comes to your wedding day, you want to arrive and leave in style.

So, if you’re looking to escape the pre-wedding madness for a few hours, add the word ‘transport’ to your groom’s checklist and go classic car shopping.

Pick your Best Man

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Olivia Osgood (@olivia_elegantaura) on

For those of you standing at the end of the aisle, choosing who to stand next to you can be extremely problematic – particularly if you have more than one very close friend.

Not only is the best man’s job to make an hilarious speech at your reception, but it’s also his job to make sure you’re punctual, prepared, dressed and relaxed – so maybe choose someone you can trust.

What we’re trying to say is, pick someone who’s responsible enough to keep your rings safe and get you to the venue because, lets be honest, nobody wants to see another Hangover movie.

You also want someone who knows you inside and out so, whether that be your brother, mate, two mates or your female friend, do what works for you.

Your Groom’s Speech

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Blanck Magazine UK (@blanckdigital) on

Nerves, alcohol and new in-laws can make your speech seem daunting – that’s why it should take priority on your groom’s checklist.

Maybe practice your speech a couple of times in front of your friends – and try and make them shed a tear or two.

At the end of the day, you’re standing up and speaking to simply thank your groomsmen, encourage the guests to enjoy themselves and, most importantly, compliment your other half who, we imagine, looks stunning.

Comparing Two Beautiful Outdoor Wedding Venues in Liverpool

When it comes to hosting the perfect outdoor wedding, we have two very different yet equally stunning options for happy couples to choose from.

One which radiates natural beauty, elegance and charm, the other a chic and glamourous venue that boasts majestic views across Liverpool’s city skyline.

Here we compare the two, hoping to help you make the decision about where you’ll host your dream outdoor wedding in Liverpool.

The Heavenly Heights of The Garden of Eden

Perched atop the award-winning Shankly Hotel, sits an ethereal outdoor wedding venue that overlooks the impressive and iconic skyline of Liverpool: The Garden of Eden.

This outdoor wedding venue is chic and glamourous, boasting unparalleled views from an expansive terrace garden and an exquisite backdrop offering striking photo opportunities.

The flexible space gives happy couples a blank canvas to work with, and a variety of layout options for aisle and seating arrangements.

And what could be better than spending your entire wedding day soaking up the sun? Sipping champagne and bespoke cocktails at your outside wedding reception, before watching a glorious Liverpool sunset from an unspoiled vantage point.

The Garden of Eden has all the elements to host a flawless outdoor wedding and reception, from day to night, and is by far the most heavenly rooftop wedding venue in Liverpool, bar none.

An Enchanting Outdoor Wedding Wonderland at Rainhill Hall

There’s no artist quite as talented as Mother Nature.

At Rainhill Hall, we’ve made it possible for couples to make the most of her work, by booking Liverpool’s newest, and most enchanting outdoor wedding venue.

Rainhill Hall - outdoor wedding venue

An otherworldly romance awaits in the sprawling grounds of a respectfully restored grand country manor. Rainhill Hall is an outdoor wedding venue that exudes classic elegance and charm, designed for hosting an idyllic dream wedding.

All the rage in current trends, woodland weddings are a magnificent way to harness the beauty of nature, tying it all in to the theme of your nuptial celebrations.

At Rainhill Hall, we can help you tailor the surrounding wild splendour of lush greenery to suit your perfect day.

Rainhill Hall - Outside wedding ceremony

Picture yourself strolling down an effortlessly beautiful woodland walkway, flanked either side by wedding guests. Your seating placed beneath a gossamer canopy of romantic lighting and floral artistry.

What’s more, our whimsical wedding woodland will cater to both outside wedding ceremonies and receptions. Happy couples can take advantage of the stunning secret garden to host a wedding toast and we can even help you organise a spectacular fireworks display.

Great Ideas for a Perfect Spring Wedding

If you’ve chosen to get married in Spring, then congratulations! There’s so much inspiration to glean from this wonderful season; it is the time for new beginnings, rebirth and rejuvenation.

Embrace the vibrancy and vitality that Spring brings by incorporating ideas like these into your big day.

Bring the Outside in

Unpredictable weather at this time of year means that an outdoor wedding is risky. There’s no need to give up on the idea, however, as you can bring the outside in with clever use of foliage, flowers and woodland elements.

Great Ideas for the Perfect Spring Wedding

A Fresh Twist on Foliage

Flowers shouldn’t just be reserved for the bouquets – think chandeliers made of lush greenery and roses, wall hangings filled with seasonal blooms and even pressed flower personalised favours.

Think tulips, hyacinth, peonies & freesias combined with woody accents and bright, colourful textures.

(Source: Shutterstock)

Break Tradition

It’s the beginning of a new season, and with this particular season comes life, vivacity and new beginnings. Why not opt for a less traditional dress that accentuates the rest of your Spring theme? Floral accessories and embroidered applique detailing can create a lovely soft change from plain, white gowns that we are used to. If you’re feeling brave, play around with colour, too.

A bright and striking dress that pops with colour can make for some really memorable wedding photographs.

Embrace the Season

Fruits like strawberries, apples and fresh apricots are all in season around this time of year. Incorporate these along with edible flowers into a range of themed spring cocktails instead of bubbly at the wedding reception.

Great Ideas for the Perfect Spring Wedding

(Source: Shutterstock)

Seasonal fare can also be the focus of your wedding breakfast in Liverpool. Most tasty fruits and vegetables are in season around springtime, but the stars of the show are usually asparagus, carrots & greens. A fresh take on a traditional wedding meal will perk guests up and prep them for the night ahead.

A Spring Inspired Statement

When it comes to the cake, this is where your Spring theme can really shine. Utilise the berries that are in season around this time of year and go for a ‘naked’ cake full of fresh cream and zesty lemon.

Great Ideas for the Perfect Spring Wedding

(Source: Shutterstock)

Or, if you want something a bit livelier, have your cake-maker adorn your wedding cake with cheerful, dynamic colours that really channel the essence of Springtime. Painted sugar petals and realistic iced ‘succulent’ cupcakes will really bring your wedding cake to life!

Earthy Accents

To contrast against the bold colours that encapsulate your Spring wedding theme, bring earthier, more mellow niceties into the day that will help balance everything out. Wicker baskets are a great item to use, especially for flower girls and to hold floral centrepieces in.

Great Ideas for the Perfect Spring Wedding

Magnolias have beautiful branches that can be incorporated into your décor, alongside flowering cherry tree branches and blossoms. There are plenty of great places out there that make some incredibly convincing artificial flowers, trees and other foliage that can stand in for when you can’t source the real thing.

A Dream Spring Wedding with Signature

Once known as Loyola Hall, Rainhill Hall is a perfect setting for a Spring wedding. It’s only a short distance away from the centre of Liverpool, however, feels more like an ethereal woodland oasis once you set foot into the grounds!

Great Ideas for the Perfect Spring Wedding

They even have woodland cabins in which to house your guests and an incredible treetop Bridal Suite for the happy couple!

Start planning your perfect Spring wedding with Signature Living Weddings. Our dedicated wedding coordinators will be on hand every step of the way to ensure that your big day is the happiest it could possibly be. 7 World Famous Celebrities That Married a Fan

If you’ve ever dreamed of marrying your celeb crush or dating a celebrity, there may still be hope! Because some of the world’s most famous faces have fallen head over heels for none other than a fan.

Celebrities Who Married Fans

From some of Hollywood’s most prolific actors to stars of the 60s, we’ve delved into the love stories of 7 celebrities that married fans…

Justin Bieber Married Hailey Baldwin

Without a doubt one of the most famous married couples in the world, Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin’s love story is far from ordinary! Years before her modelling career took off, Hailey was a self-confessed ‘Belieber’ and one of millions of fans hoping to catch Justin’s eye at his concerts.

In 2009, Hailey struck lucky when she was introduced to her future husband by her father Stephen Baldwin. Behaving like any other starstruck teenager, Hailey stood awkwardly with her arms crossed as her dad took the lead and told Justin, “We’ve been enjoying your music”.

Elvis Presley Married Priscilla Beaulieu

It may come as a surprise that the King of Rock himself ended up marrying one of his fans. At 14 years old, Priscilla Beaulieu met Currie Grant, a friend of Elvis’ at the Eagles Club. Grant asked Priscilla, ‘How’d you like to meet Elvis Presley?’

celebrities who married fans

When it came to the night of meeting the rock ‘n’ roll icon, Priscilla was overcome with nerves. Elvis played songs for her, while Priscilla didn’t say much at all. After the night they met, Priscilla wondered how anyone at school would believe she’d been to the house of Elvis Presley…and the rest was history!

Reese Witherspoon Married Jim Toth

Now for a slightly different fan scenario, Hollywood superstar Reese Witherspoon fell in love with Jim Toth, who worked at a talent agency paid to promote the actress and her work.

The pair are said to have crossed paths at a party, when Jim stepped in to save Reese from his drunk friend! Reese told ELLE magazine, “Jim came over and said, ‘Please excuse my friend. He’s just broken up with someone.’ She added, ““That’s just kind of who he is, a really good person.”

Ringo Starr Married Maureen Cox

The story of the next couple means rewinding back to the 1960s, the height of Beatlemania! Maureen Cox, a hairdresser at the time, was a regular at The Fab Four’s early shows.

celebrities who married fans

Living the dream of Beatles fans around the world, Cox was noticed by Ringo Starr at a show and married the drummer in 1965. Sadly, it wasn’t to be, and the pair divorced in 1975.

Tom Cruise Married Katie Holmes

They were once one of Hollywood’s most famous married couples, but did you know that Katie Holmes was fan girling over Tom Cruise before the term even existed! The Dawson’s Creek star had a crush on Cruise as a teenager and even had posters of him on her bedroom wall.

In 2004, Holmes told Seventeen Magazine ‘I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise’. A year later, the famous duo were engaged. Less than ten years on, Holmes filed for divorce in 2012.

Kim Kardashian Married Kanye West

One of the most talked about celebrity weddings of all time was of course, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s! And though it may have seemed like a whirlwind romance, it took the famous rapper years to start dating the reality star.

celebrities who married fans

West is said to have fallen head over heels for Kim when he saw a photo of her with Paris Hilton in 2006, but as people say, timing is everything. Though Kim and Kanye crossed paths multiple times over the years, one or the other was involved with someone else.
